Planning a Layout Around Your Site

A 288 m circuit is long enough to deliver a real ride and short enough to sit inside a working park without swallowing the whole plot. The first job is finding the right shape. A long, narrow strip suits a stretched out-and-back layout, while a squarer plot lets the track fold back through its own footprint and keeps the far corners free for other attractions.

Choosing a Track Configuration

Three arrangements cover most family projects. An out-and-back uses the land efficiently and gives guests a clear view of the whole train as it runs. A folded loop keeps everything inside one boundary, which suits sites hemmed in by paths or buildings. A figure-of-eight crosses over itself and adds a second visual layer without asking for more ground.

We send sketches for each option at quotation stage, so the choice is made on paper rather than on site with a delivery already booked. That is also the moment to say how young your audience skews, because it changes how steeply the drops are drawn.

Queue Area, Station and Theming

Families queue in groups, and a queue line designed for teenagers tends to fall apart once pushchairs arrive. Extra width at the entry, a shaded stretch and a gate wide enough for a whole family solve most of it. Theming can be as light as a colour scheme and a station mural, or as heavy as sculpted rockwork around the lift hill.

Deciding this early keeps the steel drawings and the decoration drawings in step. A themed station added after installation always costs more than one designed in from the start.

Site Prep and Foundations

Foundations are sized to the loads in the structural drawings we issue, and the concrete is poured to those dimensions before the first column reaches site. Levelling matters more than most buyers expect: a small error under the station makes every later track joint harder to close.

Throughput on Busy Days

Hourly capacity depends on how quickly the platform clears, rather than on how the train runs alone. Two staff on the gates, a height check at the entrance and a recorded safety message all shorten the gap between dispatches.

Parks running a themed family coaster beside this one usually stagger their opening times, so guests drift between the two instead of queueing twice in the same hour. Where ground is tight and the audience is younger, a smaller junior coaster may free up more space than a full 288 m circuit. Some operators start with a compact hairpin coaster instead and add the longer circuit in a second phase.
