Choosing a Base Palette for the 5WPP-06

Colour is the first thing a child reacts to and the last thing most operators plan properly. A bright zone pulls families across a site from forty metres away, and the loudest corner of a park fills first. The 5WPP-06 is built for that job, but "colourful" is not a brief. Start with a base palette of three colours, not seven. Three gives contrast without noise, and leaves room to accent one feature. We usually suggest one dominant colour that reads against existing structures, one secondary that sits beside it without vibrating, and one accent reserved for the tallest element or the busiest spray. Send photographs of the surrounding buildings and pick against those, not against a monitor.

Carrying a Theme Through Every 5WPP-06 Surface

A theme only works when it reaches the parts children actually touch. On the 5WPP-06 we carry the theme through the frame, the feature housings, the deck markings and the signage, so the zone reads as one idea from the entrance gate.

• Splash pads and spray arches in the dominant colour, so droplets show against them
• Slide run-outs and climbing elements in the secondary, because height makes a colour look heavier
• The tallest feature in the accent colour, so it draws the eye and doubles as a meeting point
• Deck markings in a neutral tone, because painted walkways date faster than structures
• Signage and logo panels in whichever colour keeps lettering legible at a distance

Reconciling Bright Colour With Sun and Chlorine on the 5WPP-06

Two things kill bright colour outdoors: ultraviolet light and water chemistry. UV fades the sun-facing side first, which is why a zone can look fine from the shaded side and washed out from the path. Chemistry does the other half — wrong pH and heavy chlorine dull engineering plastic and shorten the life of every fitting.

Our frames use 116mm diameter galvanized steel pipe with engineering plastic components, and colour is customized rather than fixed, so you can pick shades that hold up in your climate. Ask your water engineer to keep pH inside the recommended band — that one habit protects the finish more than any cleaning product. Where a venue also runs an engaging inflatable slide, keep the same rule for both assets, because a single chemical error in a shared plant room shows up everywhere downstream.
